Cassandra van Veen (1964) approaches the visual reality through poetic logic. Her paintings reflect her perception of beauty and her emotion in an unusual way.

The artist finds her subjects in her immediate environment, especially in the dunes and at the seaside. Ordinary things are perceived and depicted in a passionate way. `In the experience of a sublime view in the mountains or of a desolate beach at the ocean, we perceive a bit of the fundamental sound of life itself.' (Ton Lemaire, Met open zinnen; 2002. p. 121.)
