Kees Bol (1916-2009): “I think that trying to make your paintings more interesting than you are is dangerous. You either are somebody or you are not. Once you start looking for something that no one else has made, you will spend your entire life searching and you will forget to paint!”

Kees Bol - like a true classical master - has an own, inimitable style. His very recognisable, agile signature creates silence, and the silence calls to mind a lively sense of movement. Behind the clear, transparent simplicity of his paintings, a poignant need is concealed within Kees Bol to hang onto part of a world that is slowly and unrelentingly slipping away from us.

The work by Kees Bol has been acquired by many foundations and private persons, and has been shown at Van Abbemuseum in Eindhoven, Stedelijk Museum De Lakenhal in Leiden, Noordbrabants Museum in Den Bosch and Museum De Wieger in Deurne.
